Bell Beats Rogers in National Internet Reliability for First Time

Bell has knocked Rogers off the top spot in Canada’s fixed broadband reliability rankings, something that hasn’t happened in the history of the report.

According to Opensignal’s June 2026 Canada Fixed Broadband Experience Report released today, Bell scored 789 out of a possible 1000 points, edging out Rogers, who came in second at 776. Telus rounded out the top three at 756, not too far behind. The data was collected between February 1 and May 1, 2026, and measures how reliably a household can stay connected and run multiple devices at once.

Bell didn’t just win reliability either, as it also dominated upload speeds, averaging 173.1 Mbps, more than double what Rogers managed at 83.0 Mbps in third place. Telus ranked second averaging 127 Mbps.

When it came to consistent quality as well, Bell led with a score of 88.2%, and swept every single award category in Quebec, according to Opensignal.

Rogers kept its title as the national leader in download speeds at 270.0 Mbps, ahead of Bell’s 242.7 Mbps and Telus’s 202.1 Mbps. Rogers also won the national award for video streaming and picked up 23 of the 35 regional awards handed out across the rest of the country.

As for Telus, its best showing came in its home province of B.C., where it won the upload speed category outright and tied with Rogers for both video and reliability. It did not win any outright overall experience awards, which only Bell and Rogers took home.

“Canadians expect their Internet to work – period. Whether they’re working, streaming, gaming or connecting with family and friends, they want it to be fast, consistent and, above all, reliable. Being recognized by Opensignal as Canada’s Most Reliable Internet reflects our team’s dedication to building the country’s best networks and delivering the best experience to our customers. Because for us, connection is everything,” said Blaik Kirby, Group President, Consumer and Small Business, Bell, in a statement to iPhone in Canada.

With Canadian carriers expected to pull back on network spending now that major fibre buildouts are wrapping up, analysts say day-to-day user experience is becoming the real battleground for keeping internet customers loyal going forward.
