Rogers Is Raising Home Internet Prices for the Second Time This Year

Rogers customers are facing another hit to their wallets as the telecom plans to raise monthly rates for home internet packages. The move marks the second major price hike from the company this year, expanding beyond its recent wireless price increases.

According to new billing notices sent to customers last week, Rogers will increase the monthly fee for certain internet packages by $7 plus taxes. The company stated that the price jump will take effect on the first bill on or after August 18, 2026, according to iPhone in Canada reader, Jason. He saw a price hike on his bill back in March at the tune of $7 per month. So this is his second price increase in a year. He’s on a two-year internet term right now.

Rogers defended the decision by pointing to network costs, telling customers in the notice obtained by iPhone in Canada, “We continually invest to bring you our best-connected experience in Canada. To help support these investments, we will be increasing the monthly fee for your Internet package”.

The company noted that any active promotional discounts or guaranteed price rates will stay in place until their original end dates. Bulk internet services included in condo maintenance fees or property rentals are also excluded from the hike.

This latest $7 increase follows an earlier round of pricing adjustments reported by customers. Earlier this year, some subscribers on two-year terms for high-speed tiers, such as the Xfinity Premier 1.5 Gbps plan, saw their monthly bills jump by $10. For instance, one customer saw their discounted monthly rate climb from $52 to $62.

Rogers is not alone in squeezing more money out of its user base, as rival carrier Bell has also been actively raising internet prices across Canada.

Customers who want to dispute the changes, request an updated service agreement, or cancel their subscription are being told by Rogers to contact the company directly through the information provided on their bills.

Earlier today, Rogers acquired the rest of MLSE in a massive $4.35 billion deal. Looks like that huge deal needs to be paid off somehow, right?
