Apple TV+ Secures Record-Breaking 89 Emmy Nominations
Apple TV+ has smashed its own internal milestones by locking down a jaw-dropping 89 Primetime Emmy Award nominations. This massive haul also makes Apple the single most nominated network this year across the Outstanding Drama and Outstanding Comedy categories.
The achievement shows how fast Apple TV+ has transitioned from a niche premium service into a powerhouse. Even more impressive is that a significant chunk of these nods went to brand-new shows.
Leading the charge for Apple TV+ is the breakout comedy sensation Widow’s Bay. The fresh series racked up an astonishing 19 nominations all on its own, quickly establishing itself as a favorite for the upcoming ceremony on September 14. Close behind on the drama side is Pluribus, which pulled in 18 nominations for its highly praised inaugural season.
Other notable heavy hitters included the crowd-pleasing comedy Shrinking with 10 nods and the highly anticipated debut of Margo’s Got Money Troubles, which landed eight nominations. Meanwhile, the dark British spy series Slow Horses kept its steady momentum by securing nine nominations, marking its third consecutive year competing for Outstanding Drama Series.
Matthew Rhys picked up a lead actor nod for Widow’s Bay, while Jason Segel got recognized for Shrinking. The comedy nominations also turned into a star-studded affair with Harrison Ford, Michael Urie, and Jessica Williams picking up supporting nods.
There is also a very special milestone tucked into the list: beloved veteran Michael J. Fox snagged a guest actor nomination for Shrinking, marking his first Emmy acting nomination in more than ten years.
What makes this record haul particularly interesting is Apple’s distinct content strategy. Unlike rivals like Netflix, which push out massive volumes of content every week to see what sticks, Apple continues to focus on a smaller, curated portfolio of high-budget productions.
