Apple is lining up refreshed 24-inch iMacs with an M6 chip and new colour options before the end of the year, according to Mark Gurman in Sunday’s Power On newsletter for Bloomberg.
Gurman says the new machines are likely updated versions of the current 24-inch model, swapping in the base M6 for today’s M4 and adding fresh paint options. He does not name the new colours. The current lineup still ships in green, yellow, orange, pink, purple, blue, and silver.
No major redesign is expected this round. Apple has also been linked to a future 24-inch iMac with an OLED panel, but that project is still years out, so this refresh is mostly about silicon and colour, not a new chassis.
That lines up with earlier reporting that Apple had finished development on the first new iMacs in two years, under the internal codenames J833 and J834, as part of a broader Mac refresh that also includes an M6 entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro.
The M6 story has a catch for buyers chasing the highest-end Macs. Apple is still expected to ship the base M6 this fall, but skip M6 Pro, Max, and Ultra so it can rush the M7 family for AI workloads next year. An all-in-one that only needs the base chip fits that plan cleanly.
In Canada, the current M4 iMac still starts at $1,699 CAD on Apple.ca for the 8-core configuration. Apple has already raised prices across much of the Mac and iPad lineup this year as memory costs climbed, so any M6 refresh could land with a higher sticker even if the design barely changes. Official Canadian pricing will wait until Apple puts the machines on sale.
Gurman says all signs point to the M6 iMacs being close to launch, with arrival expected before the end of 2026. That puts them after the September iPhone event and into the usual late-year Mac window Canadians watch for Black Friday and holiday inventory.
