Amazon is raising wages for its Canadian operations employees, with more than $78 million going toward pay increases across the country.
The company told iPhone in Canada on Wednesday the changes take effect September 27, when its average hourly base wage will rise to $26.27 per hour, up 4% from 2025. That’s up from an average of $25.27 per hour last year. Amazon says a full-time operations employee working 40 hours per week would earn more than $54,000 annually on average.
Amazon is also adding a new employee discount starting October 1. Eligible full-time, part-time, seasonal and corporate employees in Canada will get 10% off eligible grocery and daily essentials purchases on Amazon.ca, with no cap on the amount they can save.
The discount covers products such as pantry items, snacks, drinks, household essentials, health and personal care products, beauty items, baby products and pet supplies.
Amazon also offers regular full-time operations employees benefits including health, dental and vision coverage, an RRSP with employer matching, Prime membership after 90 days and tuition support through its Career Choice program.
The pay increase lands just ahead of Amazon’s busy holiday shopping season and Prime Big Deal Days in October.
