Apple marked iPhone 18 Pro availability day by putting one of its newest phones in a pretty unusual spot: strapped to the foul pole at Dodger Stadium.
Apple senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing Greg Joswiak shared a photo of the burgundy iPhone 18 Pro on X during Friday Night Baseball, with yellow stadium seats and a Dodgers sign visible behind the setup.
“What better way to celebrate iPhone 18 Pro availability day than with Friday Night Baseball… #ShotOniPhone!” Joswiak wrote, adding that the burgundy models “look so good.”
The phone was not there just for show. Apple TV’s Giants-Dodgers season finale put 14 iPhone 18 Pros throughout Dodger Stadium, according to Sports Video Group, including the pitch clock, backstop, foul pole, and both bullpens.
Eight of those 14 phones transmitted live over a dedicated T-Mobile Private 5G network into the production in real time. The phones also covered batting practice, player introductions, dugout shots, and stadium atmosphere alongside traditional broadcast cameras.
The iPhone 18 Pro’s 48MP Fusion Main with variable aperture, plus manual white balance and shutter controls, helps match phone footage to the rest of the broadcast camera package.
First pitch was 7:15 p.m. PT on September 18, closing out Apple TV’s 2026 Friday Night Baseball schedule. The package reaches 60 countries and regions with no local blackouts.
That lined up with Friday’s launch of the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. It builds on last September’s Fenway Park debut, when four iPhone 17 Pros joined a Red Sox-Tigers Apple TV telecast for the first live pro sports camera integration. Friday’s setup more than triples that count and adds private 5G, according to Sports Video Group.
MLB later said one of those Fenway iPhones entered the Baseball Hall of Fame collection in Cooperstown. Apple said after that run that iPhones would play a bigger role in select Friday Night Baseball broadcasts in 2026.
