Bell has been named Canada’s best overall major mobile network for 2026, while Videotron, Virgin Plus and Fizz took top honours in pricing, satisfaction and MVNO categories.
PCMag published its latest Best Mobile Networks Canada rankings on September 24, using speed, coverage, pricing and customer satisfaction data to compare major carriers and mobile virtual network operators across the country. Bell finished first overall among the major carriers and also won for the best 5G network and fastest 5G network.
Videotron finished second overall among the majors, but came away with several other awards. The Quebec-based carrier ranked first for 4G LTE performance, major-carrier pricing, multi-line pricing and customer satisfaction. PCMag said Videotron outranked Telus, Rogers and Bell in overall satisfaction in its Readers’ Choice survey.
Among MVNOs, Virgin Plus was named the best overall mobile network and best 5G mobile network. Because Virgin Plus runs on Bell’s network, it benefits from the same underlying network performance while competing at lower price points.
Fizz dominated several of the value categories, taking awards for best 4G LTE MVNO, best MVNO pricing, best 5G single-line pricing, best 4G LTE single-line pricing and highest customer satisfaction among MVNOs.
The results also varied by city. Bell ranked first among major carriers in Toronto, while Public Mobile led the MVNO category there. Montreal’s winners were Bell and Virgin Plus, while Telus ranked first among the major carriers in both Calgary and Vancouver. Public Mobile was the top MVNO in Calgary and Vancouver.
Rogers and Telus had quieter national showings, with neither taking one of PCMag’s major nationwide awards. Telus did perform better regionally, leading the major carriers in Calgary and Vancouver.
PCMag says its rankings combine network testing with pricing and subscriber satisfaction data rather than relying on speed alone. Its methodology uses crowdsourced speed and coverage measurements, carrier plan pricing and results from its annual Readers’ Choice survey. That helps explain why the fastest carrier does not necessarily lead every category.
For Canadian shoppers, the results show there is no single carrier that leads on every measure. Bell takes the overall and 5G performance awards, Videotron leads several pricing and satisfaction categories, Virgin Plus ranks first among MVNOs overall, and Fizz takes several of the strongest value-focused awards.
