Claude Now Works Directly in Google Docs, Sheets and Slides

Anthropic is bringing Claude into Google Docs, Sheets and Slides. Claude for Google Workspace is now in public beta on all paid Claude plans, adding a sidebar that lets users work with the AI without leaving the file.
The launch comes weeks after Anthropic detailed how its engineers made claude.ai roughly three times faster in 14 days.
Once installed, Claude can read the open document, spreadsheet or presentation, see selected text, cells or slides, and make changes directly.
In Docs, Claude can fix sentences, restyle headings and suggest rewrites through approval cards. In Sheets, it can write formulas, create pivot tables and charts, add tabs, and use Python for joins or data cleaning before writing the results back into the spreadsheet.
Within Slides, Claude can create new slides using a deck’s existing layouts and themes, while checking for overlapping elements, content running off the slide and text that may be difficult to read.
Claude uses an “Ask before edits” mode by default, requiring approval before changes are made. An “Accept all edits” option lets it complete tasks without stopping each time.
Signed-in users also get the same models, connectors and skills available in Claude. Anthropic says a user building a quarterly business review could pull account history from Salesforce and recent call notes through a Google Drive connector.
The integration also works from Claude itself. Google Docs, Sheets and Slides connectors let users create or edit Google files from chat while respecting existing Google sharing permissions.
The beta starts at $20 USD per month for Pro. Team and Enterprise owners must enable the connectors first. The launch follows Claude Cowork and continues Anthropic’s expansion in Canada, which joined Project Glasswing earlier this year.
