Fizz Is Shutting Down Its Android Visual Voicemail App in November

Fizz will discontinue its Visual Voicemail app for Android on November 13, 2026, according to a notice now posted on the carrier’s visual voicemail support page. Voicemail service itself isn’t going away.
Fizz is the online-only mobile brand owned by Videotron parent Quebecor, selling plans in Quebec, Ontario, Manitoba, Alberta and British Columbia. Visual voicemail shows your messages as a list on screen that you can tap and play in any order, without dialling in.
On Fizz, visual voicemail comes with the Voicemail option at no extra cost, which the carrier calls “a supercharged voicemail for the same price.” Your plan needs both the Voicemail option and data for it to work.
Android members have needed a separate Fizz | Visual voicemail app to use the feature. Its Google Play listing shows more than 50,000 downloads, a 1.9 star rating and a last update on September 11, 2025.
Starting November 13, 2026, Fizz says that app “will no longer be available.” Voicemail stays active and no action is required. Android users can switch to their phone’s built-in visual voicemail feature, “if your device supports this functionality.”
iPhone users aren’t affected, since visual voicemail is built into iOS. Fizz’s setup steps there are simply to open the Phone app and tap the Voicemail tab.
Fizz doesn’t list which Android phones or dialer apps support built-in visual voicemail on its network, and it doesn’t explain why the app is being discontinued.
The notice also doesn’t say whether the app keeps working on phones that already have it installed, or what happens to messages stored inside it. Fizz’s FAQ notes that reactivating the app on a new phone wipes earlier messages.
If you rely on the app, a few steps now can save you trouble on November 13, 2026:
- Check your phone app’s voicemail settings for a visual voicemail option. If it’s there, your phone may be able to take over once the Fizz app is gone.
- Save any messages you want to keep. The Fizz app lets you share a message’s audio file, so you can send it to yourself or to cloud storage.
- Holding the 1 key, or dialling 1-514-647-0999, will still reach your Fizz voicemail either way.
The change lands during a busy stretch for Fizz’s phone features. The carrier began rolling out Wi-Fi Calling in August, and some members reported last week that RCS was switched off on plans without unlimited texting.
Phones with a capable dialer should make the switch without much fuss. Owners of older or budget Android phones should check this week, rather than finding out on November 13 that they’re back to dialling in.
