Apple’s First Touchscreen MacBook Pro Could Arrive This Month

Apple is planning a second October launch on or around Tuesday, October 27, 2026, to introduce its first touchscreen MacBook Pro and a new OLED iPad mini, people with knowledge of the matter told Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman on Thursday.
A touchscreen Mac would be a big reversal for Apple, which spent more than a decade steering anyone who wanted to tap a screen toward the iPad. Bloomberg first reported on the touch Mac project back in 2023.
The unnamed sources said the new MacBook Pros are code-named K114 and K116. They will be lighter than today’s models, switch to OLED screens and pick up the Dynamic Island, the interactive cutout around the front camera that iPhone owners already know. Earlier Bloomberg reporting described them as 14-inch and 16-inch models running M5 Pro and M5 Max chips, though today’s report doesn’t spell out the processors.
The same people say Apple will also roll out M6 versions of the 14-inch MacBook Pro and the iMac, code-named J804 and J833. Both are said to look like the current models. That could put two kinds of 14-inch MacBook Pro on the same stage: the familiar design with an M6 chip, and the redesigned touch model.
The iPad mini, code-named J510, is getting an OLED screen as well, along with a front camera moved to the landscape edge and a revamped speaker system. Gurman said on October 4 that the OLED iPad mini was due in late October or November, so the new date narrows that window. Anyone who has tried a FaceTime call on the current mini while it’s turned sideways, and ended up looking off to one side of the frame, will appreciate the camera move.
The people said the launch will follow the format of Apple’s October 13 smart home event in New York, with an online video presentation and an in-person component for the press. This time the pitch is aimed at creative professionals in video production, photo editing and music production.
Gurman also reports that Apple has several more Macs and iPads planned for the first half of 2027, so the October 27 launch won’t wrap up the refresh. Still, if you’ve been holding out for a new MacBook Pro or iPad mini, waiting about three more weeks now looks like the smart move. As for Canadian pricing?
