GTA 6 PC Release Could Arrive Just Months After Console Launch

PC gamers may not have to wait nearly as long for Grand Theft Auto VI as they did for its predecessor, with a new report suggesting Rockstar Games is targeting an early 2027 release, just months after the game arrives on consoles.

According to GamesBeat, four industry sources familiar with Rockstar’s plans say the PC version is currently scheduled for the first quarter of 2027. That would put its release within four months of GTA VI’s November 19, 2026, launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

The report comes as anticipation continues to build around one of the most highly anticipated games in years. Microsoft recently denied reports that Xbox had secured exclusive streaming rights, while GTA VI was recently named Canada’s most-trending game search. Take-Two Interactive has also described pre-orders as “unprecedented.”

If the reported PC release window proves accurate, it would mark a significant change from Rockstar’s previous approach. GTA V launched on consoles in September 2013 but didn’t arrive on PC until April 2015, leaving computer gamers waiting roughly 19 months.

Releasing GTA VI on PC sooner could also help Rockstar capitalize on the game’s enormous commercial potential. Its development budget has reportedly exceeded $2 billion, although that figure remains unconfirmed.

The PC version is particularly important for GTA’s popular roleplaying community. Rockstar acquired Cfx.re, the team behind the FiveM roleplaying platform, in August 2023. FiveM operates exclusively on PC, and Rockstar has previously indicated that user-generated content will play a role in GTA VI.

Online multiplayer is also expected to be a major part of the game, although Rockstar has yet to announce a release date or provide details about how it will work.

For now, the early 2027 PC launch remains unconfirmed. Rockstar has already delayed GTA VI twice, first pushing it from 2025 to May 2026 before moving it to November 19, 2026.

Take-Two has since reiterated its commitment to the November console launch, but PC gamers will have to wait for an official announcement before making plans.

Will you be picking up GTA VI on console this November, or waiting for the PC version?
