Apple Limits iPhone Duo Purchases to Two Per Customer Amid High Demand

Apple is limiting customers to purchasing a maximum of two iPhone Duo units as demand for its first foldable iPhone continues to outpace available supply.

The restriction appears on Apple’s online store and Apple Store app, preventing customers from adding more than two devices to their orders.

According to MacRumors, customers attempting to exceed the limit receive the following message: “A maximum of 2 iPhone Duo can be purchased per customer. Please adjust the total quantity of iPhone Duo in your order before checking out.”

Apple is limiting customers to purchasing up to two iPhone Duo units as demand for its first foldable iPhone continues to outpace supply. Meanwhile, Engadget confirmed the same warning when attempting to buy more than two devices through Apple’s online stores in the United Kingdom, Japan, and Spain.

The restriction applies regardless of which storage configuration customers select. It’s unclear exactly when Apple introduced the purchase limit. Some Reddit users claim they successfully ordered four devices when pre-orders opened on October 16, while others hit the two-device limit.

The move likely aims to discourage scalpers from purchasing large quantities of the foldable iPhone for resale. Demand has been particularly strong since pre-orders opened, with launch-day delivery estimates disappearing within minutes. Some customers have since encountered shipping estimates extending into January 2027.

Resellers have also listed iPhone Duo units on eBay for more than $5,000 USD, significantly above Apple’s starting price of $2,999 here in Canada.

Apple has previously introduced similar purchasing restrictions for high-demand iPhones, including the iPhone 5 in 2012. Despite lengthy delivery estimates, Apple has reportedly started moving up shipping dates for some early iPhone Duo orders.

The iPhone Duo features a 7.6-inch folding display, a 5.4-inch outer screen and Apple’s A20 Pro chip.
