Here Are the iPhone Duo Apps Ready by Friday

Instagram Edits and Asphalt Legends running on the iPhone Duo

Netflix, Prime Video, Microsoft Word, Slack and dozens of other apps are getting updated layouts built for the iPhone Duo’s foldable display, with the first batch arriving when the device launches in Canada this Friday, October 23.

Apple announced the lineup on Thursday, saying the iPhone Duo’s inner display is 50 per cent larger than the iPhone 18 Pro Max. Both screens share the same aspect ratio, so apps scale up when you open the phone. The iPhone Duo also brings Split View to iPhone for the first time, letting you run two apps side by side.

New editorial collections for iPhone Duo apps and games go live on the App Store on Friday, so they will be waiting if you manage to get one at launch, and optimized apps will carry a “Made for iPhone Duo” badge on their product pages.

Here is every app and game Apple highlighted. Apple only gave timing for a handful of them, and those dates are noted below.

Streaming and sports

  • Netflix lets you scroll through Clips on the outer display, then open the phone to keep watching on the inner screen. Tom Richards, Netflix’s senior director of engineering, said the experience “adapts as iPhone Duo opens, closes, or turns.”
  • Prime Video plays content on the top half of the screen when the phone is partially folded, with X-Ray cast and bonus details on the bottom half.
  • Paramount+ adds richer playback controls and expanded browsing for shows and live channels.
  • Apple TV also uses the larger canvas for movies and series.
  • MLB plays the live game on the upright half when the phone is propped partially folded on a table, while real-time stats fill the bottom. Kenny Gersh, MLB’s executive vice president of media, business development and product, said fans “never have to choose between the broadcast and the box score.”
  • PGA Tour brings live golf and highlights alongside real-time scores and leaderboards.

Blue Jays fans may want to look away from Apple’s sample MLB screenshot, which shows the final score of Game 7 of the 2025 World Series.

Productivity apps

  • Microsoft Word gets a desktop-class layout in the coming weeks, with formatting tools next to your document.
  • Microsoft Outlook also arrives in the coming weeks, putting your inbox beside a full message.
  • Zoom shows shared content and other participants on screen at the same time.
  • Slack brings your whole workspace into view, so channels and threads are easier to follow.
  • Salesforce puts more of your dashboards in view for managing customer relationships.
  • Fantastical shows calendars, tasks and menus together. Flexibits CEO Michael Simmons said it feels like “the full Fantastical experience from Mac and iPad, right in your pocket.”
  • Cardhop, also from Flexibits, can sit beside your other apps in Split View for quick contact lookups.
  • Notewise combines notes, documents and AI tools in a single view.
  • Things fits more of your task list on screen at once.
  • Bear makes it easier to organize notes with more of them visible.

Creative and music apps

  • Detail puts video and its transcript side by side for editing, using Apple’s new Core AI framework to run its AI models on device.
  • Instagram shows more posts and Stories on screen at once.
  • Edits, Instagram’s video editor, shows the full creative studio with the timeline, editing tools and video together.
  • VLLO fits more editing controls and footage on screen.
  • edjing Mix gives DJs room for two decks, audio effects and one-tap stem separation.

Games

The A20 Pro chip and a custom vapour chamber give the iPhone Duo up to 35 per cent better sustained performance than the iPhone 17 Pro, according to Apple, which should help with longer gaming sessions.

  • Asphalt Legends fills the inner display with more than 350 cars, dynamic lighting and races against up to seven online opponents.
  • Zenless Zone Zero adapts its controls to every way you hold the phone, with its iPhone Duo update arriving next month.
  • UnGodly, a dark fantasy RPG from Azra Games, adjusts its controls and view for each display, including a taller view when closed. It launches on the App Store in November.
  • Sneaky Sasquatch on Apple Arcade offers a bigger view when open and pick-up-and-play sessions when closed.
  • Retrocade, also on Apple Arcade, takes advantage of the folding display the same way.
  • Deck-Man turns the phone into a retro cassette player. Open it to pick an album and insert the tape, then close it to start listening with Apple Music.

Cooking, shopping, travel and more

  • NYT Cooking shows more detailed recipes with richer visuals when the phone is partially folded on a counter.
  • LTK lets you watch creators’ videos and browse the products they feature in the same view.
  • Lowe’s gives home improvement shoppers a closer look at finishes, materials and design details.
  • Shop shows more products in its feed, with room to buy and track orders in every position.
  • OpenTable adapts its layout to keep restaurant details, availability and booking easy to navigate.

  • United Airlines moves its navigation to the right side of the display for quick access to bookings and trip tools.
  • Flighty adds a dedicated flight-tracking mode for when the phone is propped up.
  • Sky Guide stretches edge-to-edge star maps across the inner display.

Workshops coming to Montreal and Toronto

Apple says more than 2,000 developers have attended over 50 in-person iPhone Duo workshops in 19 cities so far. Upcoming sessions in Montreal and Toronto, along with London, Mexico City and Paris, will give more Canadian studios hands-on time with the device. The iOS 27.1 SDK includes a new hinge API that lets apps respond to the display’s angle.
