Amazon’s New Echos Land in Canada, Including a Sleep-Tracking Clock

Amazon has unveiled five new Alexa devices built around Alexa+, and three of them are available for Canadians. The refresh covers a redesigned Echo Dot, an all-new Echo Time bedside clock, and an Echo Studio with a built-in home camera.
Two other launches, the Echo Show 16 and the Alexa Photo Frame, are part of the wider lineup but are not coming to Canada for now.
Canadian pricing starts at $144.99 CAD for the Echo Dot, $289.99 CAD for Echo Time, and $329.99 CAD for the Echo Studio with Home Camera.
Shoppers eyeing the new Echo Dot, which starts at $144.99 CAD, will find the familiar compact sphere wrapped in audio-transparent 3D knit fabric. Colours include Graphite, Glacier White, Agave Green, and Coral Pink. Amazon says a revised full-range driver delivers 50 per cent more bass than the last generation, and a fourth microphone helps Alexa hear you as you move around a busy room.

Inside the Dot sits Amazon’s custom AZ3 chip for faster on-device processing with Alexa+. For the first time, the speaker also works as a smart home hub with Zigbee, Matter, and Thread support out of the box, so you can control compatible lights and sensors without a separate bridge. A built-in eero Wi-Fi extender can add up to 1,000 square feet of coverage to an existing eero mesh.
Families can pick up an Amazon Kids Echo Dot in Octopus or Penguin designs. That version includes a year of Kids+ for age-appropriate books, music, and podcasts, plus features such as Stories with Alexa and Sleep Studio wind-down content.
Nightstands are the focus of Echo Time, Amazon’s first dedicated smart alarm clock, which starts at $289.99 CAD. It uses a 3.2-inch circular touchscreen with hundreds of clock faces, from classic analog looks to seasonal themes and licensed characters, and there is no camera on the device. Graphite, Glacier White, and Coral Pink are the adult colour options, and an Echo Time bundle with the Amazon Adjustable Stand sells for $346.99 CAD.

Sleep sensing is opt-in and relies on Omnisense sensors plus ultrasound to watch breathing and proximity without a wearable. When you enable smart alarms, Alexa can wake you during lighter sleep within a window you set, while the display brightens like a sunrise. At night the screen dims, cuts blue light, and can show just the time or your next alarm. An Amazon Kids Echo Time arrives in Galactic Grape and Cosmic Lime with parental controls and a year of Kids+.
Room-filling audio is still the job of the Echo Studio with Home Camera, priced at $329.99 CAD, which keeps the high-excursion woofer, three full-range drivers, and Dolby Atmos spatial layout fans of the original Echo Studio will recognise. Advanced Room Adaptation and Adaptive Volume retune the speaker to your space and where you are in the room. The new piece is a front-facing camera that lets Alexa+ see what you hold up, power Live View in the Alexa app when you are away, and eventually send video calls to a compatible Fire TV.

Privacy switches remain physical. A dedicated button mutes the microphones on every Echo, and on the Studio with Home Camera it also cuts the camera, with an LED that lights when video is streaming to the cloud. A camera-free Echo Studio stays in the lineup for anyone who wants the sound without the lens.
Alexa+ remains tied to a Prime membership for the smarter conversational features on these speakers, matching the access model Amazon rolled out when the assistant expanded in Canada and when earlier Echo and Fire hardware landed with local pricing.
Which of the three Canadian Echo launches are you most likely to put in your home first?
