MacBook Neo Student Pricing Increases by $60 in Canada

Apple has raised the education price of the MacBook Neo in Canada by another $60 CAD.
Students and educators now see $879 CAD on Apple’s Canadian education store, up from $819 CAD after the June hike.
That is the second bump this year. At launch in March, the press release put education pricing at $679 CAD. Apple’s June price increases pushed it to $819 CAD, a $140 CAD jump. The latest $60 CAD step brings the total to $200 CAD above the original press release figure.
We checked Apple’s Canadian education store today and the $879 CAD price is live. The regular MacBook Neo still starts at $949 CAD in Canada, so the education discount is now $70 CAD.
The same move hit the U.S. education store, according to MacRumors, where the Neo climbed from $599 to $649 USD within the past week. Equivalent increases landed in local currencies in other countries. The U.S. student discount shrank from $100 to $50 against a $699 USD regular price.
Apple has blamed earlier Mac and iPad price increases on a memory chip shortage that drove up RAM and storage costs. It has not separately explained this latest education-only adjustment, which leaves the hardware unchanged.
Canadian students still get access through Apple’s education program, including during back-to-school promotions, but the gap versus the regular price keeps narrowing.
Would another $60 CAD keep you waiting for a refurbished Neo, or are you buying now?
