OneSoccer on Rogers TV Just Cleared a Big Hurdle

Soccer fans on Rogers TV are a step closer to seeing OneSoccer in their channel lineup after the CRTC said in a decision on Friday that it would adopt Rogers’ rate offer for carrying the English-language sports service. The ruling wraps up a final offer arbitration that followed years of conflict over whether Rogers had to distribute the channel, including a Federal Court loss for Rogers earlier this year.

Both Rogers Communications Canada and Timeless Inc., which operates OneSoccer, told the Commission they preferred Rogers’ offer. With that agreement on the record, the regulator said it did not need to weigh fair market value factors and selected Rogers’ proposal in its entirety, establishing the wholesale linear rate for the service.

Back in 2023, the CRTC found that Rogers had given itself and Sportsnet an unfair edge by refusing to carry OneSoccer on its television platforms. Mediation failed to settle the rate, so a final offer process began in February 2026 and was later narrowed to the linear wholesale price alone.

Final offer arbitration works a little like baseball salary talks, where each side puts a complete rate proposal on the table and the Commission must pick one package rather than split the difference. In this case the parties made that choice for the regulator by agreeing Rogers’ number should win.

Canadians will not see that number in the public reasons. Most of the financial detail was filed in confidence, and the Commission said publishing it could hand rivals sensitive commercial information. The decision also sets no public effective date for when the rate kicks in.

Packaging questions are still a separate fight from the rate itself. Rogers had asked the Commission to deal with how OneSoccer would be bundled on its systems as part of this case, but the regulator said that request sat outside the arbitration and pointed to another application Timeless has already filed.

For subscribers, the practical upshot is that a binding wholesale rate now exists, which removes the last major pricing obstacle from the original carriage dispute. How soon OneSoccer shows up in Rogers packages, and at what retail price, will depend on how those packaging talks play out. Timeless has previously pressed Rogers over delays with major tournaments approaching, so fans will be watching the next steps closely.

Would you add OneSoccer to your Rogers TV package if it showed up as a channel option?
