Apple Intelligence Is Finally Coming to China in iOS 27.3: Report
Apple has officially rolled out the first developer beta for iOS 27.3 and watchOS 27.3, bringing a fresh batch of software updates that focus heavily on artificial intelligence, health tracking, and regional features.
The most talked-about addition in iOS 27.3 and watchOS 27.3 betas is a suite of Audio Intelligence features built for newer hardware like the Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4. Using the watch’s microphone, these features are built to track and analyze nearby conversations in real time.
The tools include two main functions:
- Siri Recap: Automatically pulls key topics from a conversation and turns them into concise bullet points.
- Live Rewind: Displays an instant text transcript of the previous 15 seconds of a conversation.
Apple has noted that the audio processing happens directly on the device and is not saved. The watch also plays an audible sound whenever Live Rewind is triggered.
After being pulled from previous test cycles, Apple’s redesigned Health app also makes a return in the iOS 27.3 beta. The revamped layout introduces two major sections i.e. Insights and Longevity.
The Longevity tab is geared toward long-term wellness tracking, bringing together data on heart health, hearing, movement, metabolic health, and mental wellbeing. It also introduces a “Health Age” metric. This score uses metrics like VO2 max, resting heart rate, and sleep patterns to estimate how a user’s biological fitness compares to their actual age, putting Apple on more direct footing with dedicated health wearables like Oura and Whoop.
Lastly, the new beta also marks a major step for Apple’s AI rollout in China. iOS 27.3 introduces Apple’s first localized AI capabilities for users in the country, including writing tools and Genmoji. However, the rollout is limited i.e. Siri AI functions that rely on Google models are excluded from the region due to local regulatory hurdles.
