iOS 27.2 for iPhone Is Out Now, Minus One Feature You Were Expecting

Apple has released iOS 27.2 and iPadOS 27.2 to everyone today, one week after the release candidate went out to developers.
The update brings Siri AI to five more languages, including French, along with profiles in the Apple TV app and smaller changes across Apple’s own apps.
It’s also the first feature update for most iPhones since iOS 27 arrived in September. Apple skipped iOS 27.1 on everything except the iPhone Duo, which shipped with that version.
What’s new in iOS 27.2
Siri AI now works in French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese (for both Portugal and Brazil) and Spanish, after launching in English only. For Canadians, French is the big addition for users in Quebec and bilingual households, though Apple hasn’t detailed which regions get each new language. You’ll still need an iPhone 15 Pro or a newer model to use Siri AI.
Canadians with AirPods Pro 2 or newer also get Apple’s Hearing Aid feature with this update, which is now live in Alberta, British Columbia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and Saskatchewan. Your iPhone needs to be on iOS 27.2 and your AirPods on the latest firmware to switch it on.
The Apple TV app on iPhone and iPad now supports profiles, so everyone sharing an account can keep their own watch history and recommendations. You can also pick Snoopy or other characters from Apple’s shows as your profile picture. Profiles can be set up for kids and locked with a four-digit code, and automatic downloads are back in the TV app’s settings.
Group FaceTime calls get Dual Capture too, which streams your front and rear cameras at the same time. The rest of the app changes include:
- Suggested Actions in Messages, which can add items to Calendar, Reminders and Notes, show places in Maps, and surface flight and package details from your conversations
- Lock After Closing and Door Left Open alerts in the Home app for compatible smart locks
- A split Up Next queue in Podcasts, with separate New Episodes and Continue Playing rows
- Recently downloaded games you haven’t played yet on the Games app’s Home tab
- A new Accessibility setting that lets the side button bring up either voice Siri or Type to Siri
Call Context in the Phone app can also remind you of a saved anniversary when you call that contact, and Apple Music has a new black and white icon with blue menu icons throughout the app. If you picked up the new Apple TV 4K, iOS 27.2 also carries the iPhone side of Home Theatre setup for surround sound with four HomePods.
Bug fixes include a widget glitch that could freeze the Home Screen until a restart when you dragged a widget onto another page. Some problems remain, though, including photo wallpapers that lose colour when you swipe home and occasional lag with clear icons.
iPhone Duo gets Apple Pencil support
Apple also posted separate iOS 27.2 release notes for the iPhone Duo, as spotted by Aaron Perris. The foldable now works with Apple Pencil and picks up Edge Light, which lights up your face during video calls.
The Duo notes also mention Siri AI holding on to context from earlier requests and drawing on more of your personal context, plus Suggestions in Messages that offer quick actions in apps like Calendar and Reminders based on what you’re chatting about.
Still no new Health app
The redesigned Health app isn’t part of this release. It showed up in early iOS 27.2 betas, but Apple pulled it before the release candidate, and it’s expected to arrive in a future update.

Apple also released these updates for its other platforms on Monday:
