Yesterday we posted about Geohot and his attempts to the unlock the latest 05.11.07 baseband. Well, it looks like Geohot has been successful in his efforts! Today he posted a video showing proof that he has indeed unlocked an iPhone on the 05.11.07 baseband.

At the end of the video, Geohot explains that blacksn0w will be available November 4th! So if you’ve updated your iPhone within iTunes, which subsequently updated your baseband, you’re still in luck for an unlock! So stay tuned for more updates from Geohot! This is an extremely exciting time and I know lots of people have been waiting for this.

It is Blacksn0w. Blackra1n will have it included with it on its next release.

Does Blackra1n install Cydia and Icy automatically? Is the unlock running smoothly for the 3G? I made sure I kept my baseband to 04.26.08 for the unlock, but it looks like it won't matter anymore after Nov 4th! Can't wait to see how it goes for the others before I jump on this one…

I'd say Cydia automatically and Icy is optional as its open source due to the Dev Team leaving the iPhone scene. Im not sure if its even going to be with the next release because of what I said previously. There was talk of it being taken out… Unlock as in blacksn0w? Its NOT even released yet till the date posted above or in your own question… :S
Will this be available from Cydia or Modmyi or any of the other repositories listed in/on Cydia? I paid to have my iPhone jailbroken even though Geohot has stated we shouldn't be paying for his software. I'd rather have someone else do it and pay for it than take a chance of doing it myself and having an expensive iBrick. I would be able to do the install over my iPhone though if it's available in one of the repositories.That I'm comfortable with if it's an instant download install and that's all that has to be done. Thanks to those who take the time to read and reply.
