Twitter wants to have its share of its users’ smiles, so it is planning to release a series of photo filters, which are aimed at being used within the official Twitter app, AllThingsD reports.
According to their sources, the camera filters will arrive as an app update, possibly before Christmas, so this will be the popular social media channel’s present to its users this year. The new features are currently under testing, which could be the reason why Jack Dorsey, Twitter’s chairman, posted black-and-white filtered photos of his Square employees and other images.
What is interesting, though, is that we are currently witnessing something like a “photo war”, as both Instagram and Twitter fight to keep their users on their platforms: you may recall that Instagram turned off the Cards functionality, so if you experience some issues while viewing Instagram images in your Twitter feed, the reason is Instagram doesn’t want to play nice with Twitter anymore.
In other words, the two big platforms, Facebook and Twitter, are fighting for the new visual experience where the consumer Web is headed: this is why Facebook acquired Instagram, why Instagram launched Web profiles and, why Twitter revamped its ‘Discover’ tab. So, are you ready to share your holiday season pictures? Which platform is your favorite?
