Back in 2011, Twitter acquired TweetDeck, the app that allowed people and brands to track what was being said on the social network. Fast forward to 2022, and Twitter is ending the TweetDeck for Mac app, and instead focusing on its web version.

On Wednesday morning, the TweetDeck account announced, “We’re saying goodbye to TweetDeck for the Mac app to focus on making TweetDeck even better and testing our new Preview. July 1 is the last day it’ll be available.”

“You can still use TweetDeck on web and more invites to try the Preview will be rolling out over the next few months!”, added TweetDeck.

When asked by fans why this was happening, TweetDeck explained, “we’ve decided to wind down the app so we can continue focusing on improving and bringing new features to TweetDeck. Stay tuned — we’ll be sharing updates along the way!”.

Twitter ended the TweetDeck iOS and Android apps in 2013 and the company’s Windows app in 2016. Now in 2022, the Mac version of the app has finally reached the end of the line. Twitter ended support for its Mac app version back in 2018.

As it stands, Twitter is expected to be purchased by Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk, as part of a $44 billion deal.

You can still download TweetDeck for Mac, but its last update was back in December 2020.
