Apple Rumoured to Announce Redesigned AirPods at ‘Unleashed’ Event

Apple is rumoured to reveal the third-generation AirPods at next week’s ‘Unleased’ event. After not being featured alongside the announcement of the iPhone 13 series last month, the redesigned AirPods are said to be shown at the Mac-focused virtual event.

On Monday, October 18, Apple is set to host its second major event of the season. With the iPhone 13 and Apple Watch Series, 7 both revealed and on the market, eyes have turned towards news of the redesigned MacBooks. However, according to credible Weibo leaker @PandaIsBald, Apple is also using the Unleashed event to reveal a pair of redesigned AirPods.

As reported by MacRumors, @PandaIsBald claims that the third-generation AirPods revealed at the event will be similar to what has been previously reported on. This pair of AirPods is the first major refresh to the design of Apple’s wireless earbuds since 2019’s AirPod Pro.

According to previous reports, the third-generation AirPods will be taking design inspiration from the AirPod Pro. Based on how it seems Apple will position the new product, the third-generation AirPods will replace the second generation and bridge the gap between the regular AirPods and the sister product, AirPod Pros. However, Pro-related features like Active Noise Cancellation will continue to be reserved for the higher-end device.

In addition to the new AirPods, Monday’s event will likely be designated to the reveal of the redesigned MacBook Pro models. Reports indicate that a 14 and 16-inch MacBook Pro will be revealed. The new devices may see a return of the MagSafe charger, the removal of the TouchBar, and be powered off the new iteration of Apple’s silicon.
