Apple’s Black Friday Promo Said to Be Gift Cards, Not Discounts

Just days before the Black Friday sale, Apple has teased the promotion on its website and via email. The one-day Apple shopping event usually means price drops for some of the company’s own products and third-party items as well.

This year, however, Apple is said to focus on Apple Store gift cards instead of the usual product discounts, at least according to Mark Gurman of 9to5Mac. From what he has heard, this year, Apple’s Black Friday shoppers will receive an Apple Store gift card that they can use later on to purchase a qualified product, similar to what we’ve seen with the Back to School campaigns.

Gift cards will likely be given to customers who purchase Apple’s flagship products, such as the iPad, MacBook, or iPod, and the amount will likely differ based on the value of the purchase, Gurman says.

The gift cards will be included with Apple’s flagship products, such as Macs, iPods, and iOS Devices, in addition to third-party accessories. The gift card amounts are said to fluctuate based on the product. For example, gift cards that accompany accessories will have lower amounts of money than Macs. We’re hearing that accessories, such as the Dropcam, will likely include a gift card worth around $25, and Macs could include a $100 card. iOS Devices like the iPad will include a $50 Apple Store gift card. Some more expensive third-party products will also include $50 gift cards.

Apple will kick off the Black Friday promotion on November 29 at 12:01 AM PST in Canada. The exact details of the one-day Apple shopping event will be available tomorrow in the morning, when the promotion will go live in Australia.
