iPhone 14 Pro Models Said to Feature 48-Megapixel Camera and Include 8GB of RAM

Apple is rumoured to be supporting a 48-megapixel camera array on the Pro models of next year’s ‘iPhone 14.’ Additionally, Haitong International Securities analyst Jeff Pu has said that the Pro models will also support 8GB of RAM.

According to a report from MacRumors, Pu suggests that Apple will once again release four different models of its new iPhone. As with other reports, it’s been said that the lineup will include a 6.1-inch iPhone 14, 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Max, 6.1-inch iPhone 14 Pro, and 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Pro Max.

Out of the four new devices, Pu states in a research note that the Pro models will feature a triple-lens rear camera array. The array is rumoured to be comprised of a 48-megapixel Wide lens and 12-megapixel Ultra Wide and Telephoto lenses. On top of that, Pu believes that the iPhone 14 Pro models will feature an upgraded 8GB of RAM, up a fairly substantial amount from the 6GB of RAM the iPhone 13 Pro models currently support. Finally, Pu believes all four models will feature 120Hz displays and that the base iPhone 14 will start with 64GB of storage.

Although Pu has been credible in his rumours and leaks in the past, this new summary of features might be spotty. The upgraded camera array sounds fairly plausible and aligns with previous rumours, including one from Ming-Chi Kuo who also believes a 48-megapixel camera array is on the horizon. However, the bump to 120Hz displays is less likely as many of the iPhone 14 models are still expected to feature the same 60Hz display. Finally, given that the base iPhone 13 starts with 128GB storage, it’s hard to see Apple backtracking down to 64GB for the base iPhone 14.

That’s not to say that Pu’s information is guaranteed incorrect. In the past, Pu has correctly stated that the mini-LED MacBook Pro and iPad Pro models would launch this year.
