M2 MacBook Air Reported to Launch July 15, Preorders Said to be Available a Week Prior

The launch of Apple’s M2 MacBook Air is reported to be just around the corner. Following its reveal during WWDC 2022, Apple said that the M2 MacBook Air would be available sometime in July. Now, it appears as though the date is set for July 15th.

Word comes by way of MacRumors, which discovered the launch date through a retail source. According to those familiar with the matter, Apple is launching the next-generation MacBook Air on Friday, July 15th with preorders to go live on July 8th, a week prior.

Of course, the new MacBook Air has been anticipated since its reveal at WWDC. As indicated, it will be powered by Apple’s new M2 chip. The next-generation chip offers support for up to 24GB of unified RAM. Additionally, the MacBook Air has faced a redesign. It has much flatter edges and is said to be thinner and lighter than its previous model. Plus, the MacBook Air supports a 13.6-inch Liquid Retina display and a 1080p FaceTime HD camera. It is now more in line with the current MacBook Pro. On top of that, the M2 MacBook Air includes two USB-C ports and a MagSafe charger.

At launch, Apple will be offering the M2 MacBook Air in a small variety of colours. These include the more traditional Silver and Space Gray colours, However, there is also Midnight Starlight. The former is a dark blue while the latter is seemingly a champagne colour.

When available, the M2 MacBook Air can be purchased on apple.ca and in the Apple Store app. Upon July 15th, the device will be available at select Apple Store locations and Apple Authorized Resellers. However, given the delays the M2 MacBook Pro is facing, there is likely to be fulfilment delays on certain SKUs.

As far as pricing, the MacBook Air with M2 starts at $1,499 CAD for the 8-core CPU, 8-core GPU with 8GB RAM, and 256GB SSD. This model supports a 30W dual USB-C power adapter.

Another MacBook Air model with M2 chip support starts at $1,899 CAD. This includes an 8-core CPU, 10-core GPU with 8GB RAM, and 512GB SSD. This model includes a 35W dual USB-C power adapter.
