New MacBook Pros Featuring HDMI Port and SD Card Reader Expected This Year

Two new MacBook Pro models both featuring an HDMI port and SD card reader are expected to release later this year.

As reported by MacRumors, Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has released a new research note highlighting his expectations regarding Apple’s new MacBook Pro models. Corroborating an earlier piece of news from Bloomberg, Kuo claimed that two new MacBook Pro models would feature an SD Card reader. Additionally, seeks to implement an HDMI port in the new flagship models, which are expected to release in the second half of 2021.

“We predict that Apple’s two new MacBook Pro models in 2H21 will have several significant design and specification changes,” wrote Kuo. “Some of the practical changes for users are equipping with the SD card reader and HDMI port.”

According to Kuo, Taiwan’s Genesys Logic will be the exclusive supplier of the SD card readers for both the MacBook Pro models this year.

Early on in the year, Kuo predicted that Apple would be releasing a 14-inch MacBook Pro alongside a 16-inch model. Additionally, it’s expected that both models would be included in Apple’s transition away from Intel processors, meaning that they would be utilizing Apple’s silicon.

Additional key details include the implementation of mini-LED displays, as well as a revitalized design. Bloomberg has also reported that this year’s MacBook Pros may bring back the MagSafe charger after Apple began distancing itself from its use in replacement of USB-C charging.
