Bell MTS Expands All-Fibre Broadband Internet to La Salle

Bell MTS has announced it will expand its all-fibre broadband internet service to the Town of La Salle in Manitoba.

The announcement means roughly 800 homes and businesses in La Salle and the Rural Municipality of Macdonald will get access to faster internet speeds and services such as Whole Home Wi-Fi and Fibe TV.

“The Municipality has long identified high-speed Internet access as critical infrastructure to improve the lives of those who live and do business in our Municipality,” said Brad Erb, Reeve of the Rural Municipality of Macdonald, in a statement. “This investment by Bell MTS will help us as we continue to build communities for the future in all areas of the Municipality.”

Bell MTS says the new fibre broadband network will bring internet speeds of up to 1.5 Gigabits per second, fully funded by the company, with construction set to start in June and first connections going online by summer.

Located just under 32km south of Winnipeg, La Salle will join 30 other communities in Manitoba with Bell MTS fibre. Flin Flon and Churchill will see fibre internet this summer, while an expansion is also coming to Winnipeg to add nearly 275,000 more direct fibre connections.
