Virgin Mobile Promo Doubles Data on Select Plans in Quebec, Matching Fido [u]

Yesterday, Rogers flanker brand Fido launched a promo in Quebec, offering double the data on select Pulse Plans, as part of their “Moving Day Event.”

Now, it appears rival Virgin Mobile, a subsidiary of Bell, has matched Fido’s offer, similarly doubling data on BYOD $35 and $45 per month plans, taking data to 2GB and 4GB total, respectively, to go with unlimited Canada-wide minutes and unlimited worldwide texting from Canada.

Fido appears to have now now included their $49 and $56 BYOD plans as part of this data promo, taking total data to 8GB and 10GB respectively. Virgin has not matched this yet.

These plans are charged data overages of $7/100MB or $70/1GB and come with a one-time connection charge of $30 for new activations. They also include MyPeeps, Voicemail 3 and Call Display.

As of writing, Telus’ Koodo Mobile has not joined in on the ‘wireless tango’ yet, but expect them to match Virgin and Fido soon.

Update May 10: Virgin now has also doubled the data on their $49 and $56 plans, to match Fido. Koodo Mobile has followed suit today and matched its rivals as well.
