Rogers eSIM Activations Now Available at All Retail Locations for iPhone [u]

Back in April, Rogers and Fido launched eSIM support for iPhone XR, iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max for customers on consumer plans.

Last year’s iPhones, along with 2019 iPhone models include a physical SIM card slot and an eSIM, or digital SIM. With Dual SIM support, it allows for a single iPhone to support two phone lines, such as one for personal and one for work. It also allows users to setup eSIM with a data-only plan, which can be handy during travelling internationally.

At the time, eSIM activation was only available at a handful of Rogers and Fido stores, but as of today, Rogers says eSIM activation is now available at all Rogers and Fido branded retail locations—except Best Buy.

Rogers says users can now also order an eSIM card through customer service, and have it mailed out to them like any other SIM card.

Apple’s iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max also support eSIM, allowing users to add a second line to their phone thanks to Dual SIM support.

In Canada, Bell, Virgin, Lucky Mobile, Rogers, Fido and Freedom Mobile support eSIM on iPhone.

We’ve reached out to Rogers to get confirmation if this news also applies to Fido, too.

Update Oct. 17, 9:01pm: A Rogers spokesperson confirmed with iPhone in Canada this change applies to Fido as well.

Thanks Michael
