Rogers, Fido Customers Dealing with Wireless Outage Nationwide

Update 3:30pm PDT: Rogers says the wireless service outage was caused by an Ericsson software update.

Some Rogers and Fido wireless are dealing with a service outage, which has been ongoing as far back as last night, according to emails from iPhone in Canada readers and reports on Twitter.

“Some wireless customers are experiencing an intermittent service interruption for wireless voice and data services. Our team is working quickly to restore services as soon as possible. We apologize for the inconvenience and will continue to provide regular updates,” said Rogers an hour ago.

The outage affects the entire Rogers network, which means Fido, Chatr and Zoomer Wireless as well.

Rogers says the problem is Canada-wide and it affects wireless voice and data services.

“In most cases, your services will restore automatically. However, if you’re still having trouble using your services, try rebooting your equipment,” said Rogers online.

Here are some charts according to Downdetector of wireless issues, with most reported locations being in Ontario, specifically Toronto, Brampton, Mississauga, London, Montreal, Kitchener, Hamilton, Barrie, and Markham.

Update 9:08am PDT: the Rogers/Fido/Chatr intermittent network outage continues and is trending on Twitter. The outage on a Monday is affecting those needing cellular connectivity for work and remote learning, plus those trying to get 2-factor codes via SMS.
