Rogers Alerts is offering customers an incentive to sign up for their location-based text service, which sends you promos when you’re near participating retailers.

For postpaid Rogers customers, signing up to the Rogers Alerts service will net you 1500 Rogers First Rewards points.

Users signing up will have to provide some information such as their number, date of birth, gender, preferred language and what alert categories they want to receive. The terms and conditions say your Rogers Alerts account must be active at least 30 days for you to keep your 1500 Rogers First Rewards points. So you could easily cancel after the 30 day period is over, if you don’t want to receive alerts anymore (or add the number to your block list with iOS for 30 days, suggests some people on RFD).
Another promo over at eBates offers you $5 if you sign up here. If that’s not enough, the Rogers Alerts referral program nets you $5 every time you sign up someone else to the program, up to $300 (60 referrals) over a 12 month period.
Let us know if you’re going to jump on this (or not)!
