Telus announced on Monday the launch of its Internet for Good for Seniors program in British Columbia and Alberta, offering $9.95 per month high-speed internet to eligible residents.

Eligible seniors can choose from two Internet for Good plans with unlimited data:

  • Internet 25 with speeds up to 25 Mbps for $9.95/month
  • Internet 50 with speeds up to 50 Mbps for $19.95/month

Telus says existing internet customers that join the program will see their monthly bills reduced to one of these offered plans.

“Through Internet for Good for Seniors we are providing some of our most vulnerable Canadians with access to the vital tools and resources they need to stay safely and meaningfully connected,” said Darren Entwistle, TELUS President and CEO, in a statement.

To qualify, eligible seniors can apply at telus.com/InternetForGoodSeniors and show proof of their Old Age Security T4A (OAS), to prove they are receiving the Guaranteed Income Supplement (GIS). Once approved, a unique code is provided to sign up for the Internet for Good program.

Telus says Internet for Good for Seniors participants can also purchase a low-cost refurbished PC through BC Technology for Learning Society, while the company also offers its LivingWell Companion Home support service for $5 per month.
