Telus Plans to Invest $11 Billion in Quebec Through 2026

Telus announced on Tuesday it plans to invest $11 billion in Quebec, to expand its network infrastructure, operations, and spectrum across the province through 2026. By this September, the company will complete its high-speed internet installation for rural communities funded by the Quebec government.

“This generational $11 billion investment in Quebec is a true demonstration of TELUS’ long-standing commitment to improving the lives of Canadians by connecting communities from coast-to-coast with our world-leading wireless 5G and PureFibre networks,” said Darren Entwistle, President and CEO of Telus, in an issued statement.

The Telus investment will produce 7,000 jobs in Quebec through construction, engineering, emerging technologies and other supporting industries it says.

The company says PureFibre internet will reach close to 350,000 homes and businesses by the end of 2022.

Meanwhile, the Telus 3.5 GHz spectrum will roll out later in 2022, while communities set to gain new wireless sites include the likes of Ekuanitshit, Petite-Rivière-Saint-François, Port-Menier, Saint-Adelphe, Saint-Damase and Sainte-Catherine-de-la-Jacques-Cartier.
