Videotron Increases Price of Daily Traveller Pass: Now Starts at $9 Per Day

Videotron has increased the price of its Daily Traveller Pass for customers heading to the United States and abroad.

The Quebec wireless carrier notified customers of the price increase by sending out a text message to those that have subscribed to the 24-hour pass option. A translation of the message seen by iPhone in Canada says “please note that roaming rates have been updated. Check out the Videotron website for all the details.”

According to iPhone in Canada reader Alex, the US Daily Traveller Pass increased from $7 to $9 per day. The International Daily Traveller Pass is now billed at $13 per day. He said the text message from Videotron was lacking details, putting the onus on customers to visit the company’s website to find out the price changes themselves. He also lamented the fact $5/month is still being charged for those seeking iPhone visual voicemail.

The US Daily Traveller Pass is billed at a maximum of 10 days in a billing cycle, up to a maximum of $90. The International Daily Traveller Pass is billed at a maximum of 20 days, up to a maximum of $260 in a billing cycle. Travellers receive a text message when they arrive at destination countries, notifying them of the roaming fees for countries, if they agree to subscribe.

Videotron launched its daily roaming travel passes back in February 2017, with the US option priced at $6/day and international at $10/day, back at the time.

We’ve reached out to Videotron for clarification on these price increases and will update this story accordingly.
