Fix for iPad Pro ‘Error 56’ in iOS 9.3.2 Being Investigated Says Apple

Apple has released a statement to iMore, acknowledging it is investigating the “Error 56” issue a small number of iPad Pro users are facing after trying to update to iOS 9.3.2:

“We’re looking into a small number of reports that some iPad units are receiving an error when updating the software,” an Apple spokesperson told iMore. “Those unable to restore their device through iTunes should contact Apple support.

A couple days ago, when iOS 9.3.2 was released, some 9.7-inch iPad Pro users complained of their devices ‘bricking’ when updating, rendering their units unusable. The error informs users to plug into iTunes and restore their device, but that does not seem to work for some. As Apple states above, if you’re stuck, it’s best to contact Apple Support, or wait for a fix to come soon.
