Next-Generation iPad to Come with Fingerprint Sensor? [VIDEO]

iPad 5 fingerprint sensor

The guys from Unbox Therapy have been busy lately sharing with us their latest iPad-related findings. And here they come again: according to their own research, the iPad 5 and iPad mini 2 will likely come with a fingerprint sensor. Not convinced? Here is why this is possible.

After inspecting the iPad 5 rear shell and front panel they managed to grab, the Home button opening attracted their attention. Having placed it on top of the previous-generation iPad, a closer look revealed that the iPad 4’s home button doesn’t fit the home button opening of the iPad 5.

In other words, this means that the old Home button is larger than the iPad 5 home button opening. Since the iPhone 5s comes with a fingerprint sensor, at first glance the new Home button apparently matched the new opening. So, they took an iPhone 5s apart to extract the Home button with the fingerprint sensor and placed it into the iPad 5 front panel’s Home button opening, and guess what they found?

Exactly: the iPhone 5s Home button and fingerprint sensor fits the new opening exactly.

I would bet on A7X for the 9.7 inch iPad.
