Review: iSkin Revo2 for iPhone 3G/3GS
Only hours later here we are again with another case review for your iPhone 3G/3GS!
Today we have the iSkin Revo2, which is the upgrade from the popular Revo that was designed for the first generation iPhone. The Revo2 is a silicone case that has some unique features to it, but one of those features I have never heard before for a silicone case.
Revo2 by iSkin
The Revo2 is a silicone case designed for your iPhone 3G/3GS. While most silicone cases, such as the Revo2, protect the sides and back of the iPhone, the Revo2 seems to put a greater focus of protection on the screen. Personally, I could not care less if the back of my iPhone gets scratched but if the screen was ever to get scratched, I think I would cry. So I really like that iSkin chose to focus on the screen protection aspect.
The Revo2 includes two layers of protection for your iPhone 3G/3GS screen. The first layer is the included anti-glare, anti-fingerprint protective screen film. This is applied directly to the screen of the iPhone. The second layer is a clear plastic scratch resistant screen shield that snaps into place over the screen that also protects against impacts. I like to think of it as a blast shield. As a neat little extra, if you are not using the plastic screen protector, it easily snaps onto the back of the case for easy storage! Do note, when the plastic screen shield is on, you cannot actually use the iPhone touchscreen.
Screen protection aside, the actual silicone case covers the sides, top, bottom, and back of the iPhone. The Revo2 has all the appropriate cutouts for easy access to areas such as the headphone jack or dock connector. The sides of the case also have a honey comb micro-texture that provides a good grip when holding the case with your iPhone in it. Overall, the case feels very soft in the hand and the silicone material of the Revo2 works to prevent lint attaching to it, which is a welcomed feature to a silicone case.
However, the Revo2 has something that I have never heard before for a silicone case. iSkin calls it “Microbanâ„¢ antimicrobial protection”. In other words, the case protects against the growth of odors and stain causing bacteria. Now, I have never had odor or stain causing problems before with silicone cases, however I can see how that could happen depending on how long you have had your case. But because I have never heard of this type of innovation in a silicone case, the Revo2 gets bonus points for this.
Overall, I give the iSkin Revo2 a solid 4/5. You get a very premium silicone material that is soft to hold, prevents bacteria, and provides good grips. On top of that, you also get the best screen protection that I have seen yet on a silicone case. However, while the clear plastic screen is a good idea, it just adds clutter to the case and I can see it becoming easily lost by falling off.

I have use the first generation Revo for some time. I loved the grip it provided. I also had to wash the case under hot water and soap a few times. It did get a little oily after a few weeks of usage. So this new twist should be an added value.
I could use the screen protector…my nightmare is dropping my phone face down on a rock…

This would be perfect for me and my toddler! I need something to protect my phone during tantrums. Hers, not mine… Ok mine too.
I would benifit from it because my 1 year old daughter ends up throwing my phone when she is finished using it.
I’d love a new case, this microban stuff you talk about would be handy as I suffer from sweaty palm 🙁
The iPhone screen is good but trust me it will scratch. The reason I have the 3GS is beacause of damage to my 3G screen (so I could really use a case 😉 ) it almost seems like the treatment they use on the glass wears off after awhile. After 6 months or so my screen picked up marks really easily…

I’ve been searching high and low for a case that has a screen cover but just could not find any. I already bought a case but can’t refund it to buy this case and I’m flat-out broke.

This could be the case for me. Every phone I have owned I have broken with in a year. I can’t afford a 3gs at the moment due to Fido’s lame upgrade policy, so I need to keep my 3g in good shape.
The Revo2 is clearly a welcome break from the majority of other cases I have seen. I have persistently been a fan of silicone cases because they provide a very durable and comfortable feel. It is important to remember when purchasing a very expensive phone, such as the Iphone 3gs, that to protect the phone is equally important. Therefore, I recommend silicone cases to anyone who has an Iphone 3g/3gs.
I would benefit form this case in many different ways. For starters, and most importantly, my friends would be utterly amazed with my new case. I would gain a popularity and a sense of dominance over others. Besides that, the case will, as seen from the very well done review above, do a fantastic job of protecting my Iphone 3gs. The phone combines Science and Technology with Fashion to provide Iphone users with a hip new option for cases.
I would also like to point out that the gaps on the side of the case can be used for a new sylus which I recently bought.
I just picked up the 3gs and since never having an iPhone before I don’t know how I could have gone without it! A case to protect it would surely keep it lasting forever 🙂

I was thinking about painting my 3G red. Now that this Revo2 came along, it will be my knight in shinning armour.
I could benefit from this because I’m going to get an iPhone 3GS because of academic achievements. My dad was going to buy me it, and I thought, hey, why not get a case while I’m at it.
With two kids ages 2, and 4, I could really use the Revo2 to prevent it from breaking.

I had the iskin for the original iphone, and yes you could easily snap the plastic screen onto the back of the phone. With the 3G/3GS, the shape of the phone changed, and the thing will not stay on the back, so it ends up in your pocket, or lost! The case itself I can recommend!
My case got ripped of when I took it off to clean my phone so I need a new one I would go buy this one above but if I can win it better
