Review: Marware Sidewinder Deluxe

Today I have a case review for you all! We have not had one of these in a while, so let’s get right into it!

Sidewinder Deluxe by Marware

The Sidewinder Deluxe is Marware’s “3 cases in 1” design. It is a holster case, a shell case, and a cord-management solution. For a package that includes all three of these designs, the case is surprisingly small and form fitting against the iPhone 3G/3GS.

The holster part of the case comes attached to the shell case, but is removable. So that is where the holster case and shell case come from, however to actually use the holster, you must attach the shell part of the case. The holster is made from a very durable plastic and the shell case is made from a very thick, non-bendable rubber. The shell is glossy, but the material it is made of is scratch resistant, so that’s a bonus.

The cord management is a retractable mechanism that is pulled out very easily and pushed back in just as easily. I personally never found it to be a problem to just stuff my headphones in my pocket, but I do know how tangled the iPhone headphones can get, so in that respect, this is a pretty decent solution.

Overall, the package is pretty good. The shell case allows full access to the screen and cutouts for camera, headphones, volume, sleep/wake, dock connector, and speaker/mic. Moreover, you get a free screen film protector and polishing cloth, which is something I always like to see included with cases. Once you put the shell and holster together, it is not as thick as you would think it would be but I have to say it is a little clumsy. There just seems to be alot of removable pieces, which I do not really like in a case.

In the end, I give the Marware Sidewinder Deluxe a 3/5. It’s a good case with lots of useful features, but there’s just too much clutter.

If anyone has been looking for a case like this, I will give-away this case today to one lucky winner! Just post below on whether you have an iPhone 3G or 3GS and how you can benefit from the Sidewinder Deluxe!

Winner chosen at random; contest ends June 23, 2009 at 11:59PM.

You can check out the Sidewinder Deluxe at Marwares online store for $34.99.

Contests open to Canada residents only.

I am just about to order my first smartphone (iPhone 3GS) today from Rogers. I’ve have regular cells until now. I have always carried a cell (and a beeper) on my belt so a holster is the only appropriate design for me.
As well, I would never take a piece of electronics this expensive outside without some kind of protective cover.
Hence, the Marware makes sense for my purposes.
By the way, this is the only useful Canadian site for iPhones that I have discovered and I really enjoy it.
thanks

I’m in the Canadian Army and I take my iPhone 3G everywhere, and sometimes not the best places to bring it but its always proved useful. Been looking for a ruggedized case to protect my investment.

I’m upgrading from 3G to 3GS and when I hand down my 3G to my son I’d like it protected from his clumsiness as much as it needed protection from mine! I’ll let him have the “new” protection, since he’s ‘stuck’ with the “old” phone. ;<}

This case is just as good looking as my 3G Iphone. It’s glossy and black. I want it now.

After waiting on the side lines drooling for two years I finally bought my iPhone 3GS on launch day! Now that I’ve got my precious “$799 MRP” iPhone 3GS (how do they come up with these numbers!) I better protect it dearly before my next upgrade 🙂

A Sidewinder Deluxe would be great—cord management–isn’t that creative! I hear you about the potential clumsiness of the device, at the same time, I think there will be many situations where it’ll come in handy–in saving my 3GS!

Been considering using my phone’s music playing capabilities – and really would like somewhere to holster the headphones so they don’t get tangled or dinged up… And since the headphone thing is hideable, it’ll still work on non-headphone days…

Thanks X1Zero for the review. The 3 in 1 is really cool. I have an iPhone 3G and had it covered with Invisible Shield to protect from scratches but I always put in a Belkin holster when I’m not using it to protect from bumps and accidental falls (not really sure if belkin can protect it from falls)….and of course, I want it to be near me all the time! The Sidewinder Deluxe by Marware with its “3 cases in 1″ design is a definite go for me. The retractable cord management mechanism is really a plus as now I won’t have to untangle any earphone cords! Thanks!

Thanks, it will serve me well. Love this site, it helped direct users to put pressure to get Robbers to lower iPhone plan prices.

I’m feeling lucky, tommorow I’m picking up a lottery ticket.
