Once Installed, iOS 5 Cannot Be Downgraded?
For users considering an install of iOS 5, you may want to think twice before doing so.
AppleInsider reports that Apple has informed iOS testers that any iOS devices updated to iOS 5 beta cannot be downgraded back to iOS 4. Users who install the new firmware will only be able to upgrade to newer releases of iOS 5.
The notice was reportedly given to developers alongside the availability of the iOS 5 beta downloads. It remains to be seen if a hack can enable iOS 5 downgrading or if iOS 5 will have a jailbreak tool.

You won’t want to downgrade after you install 5.0. Â It’s insanely awesome. Â Sure I’ll miss SMSettting for a few minutes but I’ll get over it. Â iMessage is very cool. Â Gonna kill the BlackBerry DEAD. Â DEAD I say!

You will if you don’t have your iphone registered with Apple as it’s just an expensive brick. I had to revert mine to 4.3.3. as my 4 isn’t registered any more.
I updated to 5.0 tonight but the phone wouldn’t register as it’s no longer part of the developer program even though I am. I was able to enter DFU mode then point the restore file to 4.3.3. and it worked fine. iTunes version was 10.5 Beta.
