If you have a iPhone 3g, just redsn0w, not greenpois0n (you could have done this right from the time 4.2.1 was released unlike later versions of the iphone).

is the new version for mac any better and more stable than the previous versions? The jailbreak did not work when I first tried and I am not sure I want to risk it again.
It should fix some problems/bugs from the first release. Best to try again.

You can’t do anything bad to the device
When I had tried the first time I had the 4 errors come up, I then tried to restore and it wouldn’t restore so that’s why I’m a little cautious.

redsn0w. I just ran Greenpois0n over the jailbreak, and now it’s untethered.
