Apple to Debut 16-inch MacBook Pro This Week, Mac Pro in December: Report

Mark Gurman reporting for Bloomberg says Apple is set to debut a new 16-inch MacBook Pro as soon as this week, at earliest as Wednesday, according to sources:

Apple Inc. plans to debut a new MacBook Pro laptop with a larger screen and revamped keyboard as soon as Wednesday, according to people familiar with the situation.

Sources says the new 16-inch MacBook Pro will come with a brighter screen and replace its 15-inch predecessor, according to unnamed sources familiar with the matter. The new display is said to target professional video and photo editors, along with gamers and app developers.

As for the 16-inch MacBook Pro’s keyboard, it is “designed to be more reliable,” writes Gurman. Apple has been criticized for the problems with its butterfly keyboard on its MacBook Pro models.

The new MacBook Pro is said to cost “about the same” as its 15-inch predecessor and go on sale this week. Apple also plans to launch its Mac Pro desktop in December, one source says.

In Canada, the entry 15-inch MacBook Pro starts at $2,999 CAD.

As for processors, this new larger MacBook Pro will include Intel processors and not in-house made chips from Apple.

Yesterday, 9to5Mac reported Apple is hosting select media to go hands-on with its new 16-inch MacBook Pro, at the company’s demo location in New York City.
