Amazon Canada Commits CAD $3 Million to Support Those Affected by COVID-19

Amazon Canada has today announced a donation of CAD $3 million to support those who are most affected by the COVID-19 crisis in Canada, including $1.5 million towards pandemic relief donations to the Canadian Red Cross, United Way Centraide Canada, and Food Banks Canada.

Alongside its relief donations, Amazon has also created a $1.5 million fund to support local organizations in the communities where its employees live and work. Amazon Canada currently employs more than 10,000 people across the country.

“While we support the indispensable work of Canadian charities in this crisis, we will also continue to serve people around the world who rely on us to safely access essential goods,” notes the company in a press release. 

“Amazon.ca has taken many steps to support businesses of all sizes impacted by COVID-19 –offering waiving certain fees, pausing loan repayments, providing regular updates and guidance via direct communication channels, and relaxing our policies around shipping-related performance metrics to mitigate impact on seller account health.”

Amazon is also leveraging its fulfillment network and delivery service partners to ship critical supplies to front-line medical professionals across the country on behalf of the Government of Canada.
