Apple Developer Center Downtime Reaches Three Days
Apple’s Developer Center has been down since Thursday with no acknowledgement from the company on the downtime, aside from a minor update on the ‘down’ page:
We apologize that maintenance is taking longer than expected.
If your program membership was set to expire during this period, it has been extended and your app will remain on the App Store. If you have any other concerns about your account, please contact us.Thank you for your patience.
John Gruber from Daring Fireball speculates “my spidey sense continues to tingle that whatever is wrong with Dev Center is very bad,” while Instapaper creator Marco Arment suspects the outage could be related to severe data loss (with trouble restoring from backups) or a security breach which is taking longer than usual to clean up or increase defences.
Whatever the case may be, the unusual length of downtime is pretty weird.

The thick plottens.
It’s just weird to be down for so long. Maybe its nothing.
Security issue, me thinks.
(Apologies if my first post appeared rude.)
Looks like it was security related. Hacked!
(nope, no rudeness detected whatsoever)
