According to The Verge, each show is selected by Common Sense Media using the same approach it has long brought to recommendations for TV, movies, books, games and apps. Available to podcast listeners in the United States, Common Sense Media’s recommendations will be broken down into four different categories:

  • Common Sense Media Picks: All-time favorites that families are sure to find entertaining and informative.
  • One More!: Mysterious tales and action-packed dramas that kids of all ages won’t want to stop listening to.
  • Kids Know Best: Popular shows for kids, selected by kids themselves.
  • Story Time: Story-driven shows that transport kids into a world of imagination.

Apple and Common Sense will update the collections monthly with themes connected to significant cultural and historical moments, such as Women’s History Month and Back to School, according to the The Verge. There are also age group recommendations for the podcasts.

“We are excited to launch this new experience with Apple Podcasts,” Jill Murphy, editor-in-chief of Common Sense Media, said in a statement. “This wonderfully curated collection of fun and engaging podcasts will help families take the guesswork out of finding shows that kids will love to listen to and provide a healthy alternative for entertainment time that everyone can enjoy.”

The Kids & Family experience is available in the US and will be updated monthly to feature new, popular and timely shows.

Common Sense Media is an organization that “provides education and advocacy to families to promote safe technology and media for children.” Since 2003, Common Sense has been the leading source of entertainment and technology recommendations for families and schools.
