Apple TV+ announced on Thursday it will be premiering a new documentary series “Lincoln’s Dilemma”, set to stream globally on February 18, 2022.

The new four-part series is a “fresh exploration of President Lincoln and the complex journey to end slavery. Narrated by Jeffrey Wright and featuring the voices of Bill Camp as Abraham Lincoln and Leslie Odom Jr. as Frederick Douglass, the series is a 21st century examination of a complicated man and the people and events that shaped his evolving stance on slavery.”

All four episodes will debut at the same time. The documentary is based on the award-winning book, “Abe: Abraham Lincoln in His Times,” from history David S. Reynolds. The series will have insights from various journalists, Lincoln scholars, educators plus also rare archival materials.

“Set against the background of the Civil War, “Lincoln’s Dilemma” also gives voice to the narratives of enslaved people, shaping a more complete view of an America divided over issues including economy, race and humanity, and underscoring Lincoln’s battle to save the country, no matter the cost,” explains Apple TV+ in a press release.

The documentary is produced by Eden Productions and Kunhardt Films and executive produced by Peter Kunhardt, Teddy Kunhardt, George Kunhardt, Josh Tyrangiel, Richard Plepler, Jacqueline Olive, Barak Goodman and Jelani Cobb; Olive and Goodman directed the four-part series.
