Clubhouse to Introduce New Features, Including Shareable 30 Second Audio Previews of Rooms

Clubhouse is already getting ready to implement even more features after recently announcing the addition of spatial audio for iOS. The audio-only chat app will soon be testing a feature that introduces sharable 30-second previews of rooms, Universal Search, and more.

Announced in a blog post, Clubhouse revealed that a handful of new and widely requested features will start hitting the app today. To begin, Universal Search is now available, meaning users can now openly search for users, clubs, live rooms, and future events. Discoverability will undoubtedly increase as users can now seek out exactly what they are looking for. Clubhouse notes that Universal Search will be available on iOS and Android, though it will stay in the Explore tab as the company monitors feedback for the first week or two.

Clips is another feature being added, albeit in beta. Once accessible, users can share 30-second previews of a room to friends or others on the internet. In order to use the feature, Clubhouse states that clips must be enabled when a room is started. From there, people will see a new (✄) icon. Tapping this anytime will clip out 30 seconds of recent audio. This can now be shared via iMessage, Twitter, WhatsApp, or other platforms. It can also be saved to Camera Roll for editing.

Finally, Spatial Audio is coming to Android devices. After a month or so of extensive use on iOS, Clubhouse is rolling out the feature to Android users.

Clubhouse does note that Replays are coming down the pipeline. The company explains that Replays, which enables users to replay audio from a room, will roll out in the “coming weeks”. Its slower integration is to ensure that Clubhouse gets all the details right. Creators and community members will first get access later in October.
