Eve Unveils Outdoor Floodlight Camera with Apple HomeKit Secure Video

Eve Systems unveiled the first-ever outdoor floodlight camera with support for Apple HomeKit Secure Video — the Eve Outdoor Cam, on Monday at CES 2022.

HomeKit Secure Video lets you connect your home security cameras in the Home app built into iOS so you can record and view footage from anywhere. Recorded video is stored privately and securely, and the space used does not count towards your iCloud storage.

All HomeKit Secure Video-enabled cameras, including the Eve Outdoor Cam, come with 10 days of recordings for free. Beyond those 10 days, HomeKit Secure Video is available, with iCloud+ subscriptions, for one camera with a 200GB iCloud storage plan and up to five cameras with a 2TB iCloud storage plan.

Eve has other home cameras with Apple HomeKit Secure Video support as well, including the indoor Eve Cam that launched last year for $149.95 USD.

The Eve Outdoor Cam is water and dust resistant, has a powerful floodlight with automatic motion detection and light boost, is fitted with a built-in microphone and speaker for two-way communication, and features end-to-end encryption.

Whenever the Eve Outdoor Cam detects any activity in its field of view, it will send a notification to the owner’s iPhone. The camera can also use the on-device intelligence of Apple TV or HomePod to record every detected motion automatically or distinguish between people, vehicles, pets, and packages.

“Combining elegant aesthetics with technology designed to safeguard privacy, Eve Outdoor Cam goes beyond legacy surveillance camera concepts with their conspicuous looks and manufacturer clouds,” said Eve Systems CEO Jerome Gackel, in a statement to iPhone in Canada.

“Eve Outdoor Cam embodies what Eve stands for: beautiful, connected home products that set the standard for privacy-first smart homes.”

The Eve Outdoor Cam comes in a sleek chassis with a matte black metal frame that has elegantly rounded edges. On the front is opaque white glass, and the wall mount consists of a robust, three-axis hinge and an ultra-compact socket.
