Today is the release date of iOS 13, set to drop at 10AM PDT/1PM EDT. Ahead of today’s iOS 13 release, the Apple Support Twitter account is telling iOS users to backup their iPhones.

“When was the last time you backed up your iPhone? If you’re updating to #iOS13 tomorrow, make sure you have a recent backup just to be safe,” explains Apple Support.

To check for a recent backup, head to Settings, tap your name, tap your device name and then you’ll see the most recent backup. Bugs can happen with updates so it’s always good to backup your device before a software update. If you’re not using iCloud for backups, I don’t know what to say.

iOS 13 will bring new features, including a highly anticipated Dark Mode, revamped on-screen volume slider, a new swipe keyboard, improved Apple Maps, Apple Arcade and more.

The following iPhones will support iOS 13:

iPhone XS Max
iPhone XS
iPhone XR
iPhone X
iPhone 8 Plus
iPhone 8
iPhone 7 Plus
iPhone 7
iPhone 6s Plus
iPhone 6s
iPhone SE

Also coming out today is watchOS 6 for Series 3 and later (Series 1 and 2 is “later this fall”). iOS 13.1, iPadOS and tvOS 13 are set to drop on September 30, while macOS Catalina is slated for October.

Apple’s servers will get hammered once iOS 13 releases today, so if you’re not in a rush, update later this evening.
