iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Pro Battery Test Shows ProMotion Display Efficiency

A new test has found that the iPhone 13 Pro battery outlasts that of the iPhone 13 — but not by much.

On paper, the standard iPhone 13 features a bigger battery than the iPhone 13 Pro — 3227mAh over 3100mAh, respectively — so with them both having the same 6.1-inch screens, almost identical processors, oner might expect the former to outlast the latter.

However, the ProMotion display can also go as low as 10Hz when needed, allowing the phone to save battery when needed. That’s one of the reasons Apple says the 13 Pro can give 3 hours more video playback (22 hours) than the iPhone 13 with 19 hours of video playback.

In a new battery test conducted by PhoneBuff, the 13 Pro did indeed outlast the 13, but not by near as much as Apple’s claimed 3 hours.

In the test, the iPhone 13 Pro outlasted the 13 by just 9 minutes more screen-on time. So ProMotion was able to help overcome the 13’s advantage of a larger battery, but not by much.

Overall, the phones’ batteries allowed for 16 hours of standby time for both models, and 9 hours and 42 minutes for the iPhone 13 and 9 hours and 51 minutes of screen-on time for the 13 Pro.
