iPhone 14 Pro Models Expected to Feature 6GB of Faster, Improved RAM

Apple’s iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max are both expected to feature 6GB of faster RAM. Reaching the new milestone, the iPhone maker is said to be capitalizing on a new type of memory for its high-end models.

According to Digitimes, the premium models of the iPhone 14 lineup are expected to support 6GB of LPDDR5 RAM. The new memory is considered faster and more efficient when compared to memory options made available on iPhone. Currently, Apple is utilizing the LPDDR4X memory on iPhone 13.

However, it does appear as though the use of LPDDR4 is continuing into the iPhone 14 generation. The standard models are said to feature LPDDR4X as opposed to the improved LPDDR5 RAM. This will mean that the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max are likely to enable faster and improved energy-saving performance over their base counterparts.

The differentiating factor between the iPhone 13 and iPhone 14’s use of LPDDR4X is that all iPhone 14 models are likely to support 6GB of memory. The iPhone 13 lineup started with a base of 4GB of RAM.

This isn’t the first time we’ve heard of this possibility. Earlier this year, Taiwanese research firm TrendForce reported that the iPhone 14 series would feature a partial transition over to LPDDR5. This is also another mention that the iPhone 14 lineup will all support 6GB of RAM. Although far from confirmed, this notion does seem all the more likely.

It shouldn’t be long before Apple officially announces the iPhone 14 lineup. Historically, the company hosts its annual keynote in September to show off the latest innovations for iPhone. Though, its also expected that the company will showcase a new Apple Watch as well as AirPods Pro 2 and new colour options for AirPad Max headphones.
